Bodhisattva

Dating: 9th–10th century CE

Provenance: Dai Huu, Quang Binh Province

Inventory No.: BTC 188

Material: Sandstone

The Bodhisattva is identified by the image of Amitabha Buddha seated within the topknot of the hair. The deity stands on a square base, with both hands extended forward grasping the tips of two pillars. The torso exudes the grace and beauty of a Cham woman, featuring full, rounded breasts, a neck marked with three folds, and a deep crease below the bust. The face displays the characteristic features of the Dong Duong style, including prominent intersecting eyebrows, a broad nose, full lips, a short chin, and a narrow forehead. The statue was previously fractured at the abdomen and legs and has since been restored and reassembled.
