Scope and Purpose of Regulations
The Da Nang Museum of Cham Sculpture conserves and displays hundreds of priceless sandstone sculptures dating from the 7th to the 15th centuries, including six registered National Treasures. To safeguard this fragile heritage and ensure an enriching cultural atmosphere, all visitors are requested to strictly adhere to the following 12 Visitor Regulations:
12 Essential Museum Regulations
- Opening and Visiting Hours: The museum operates daily from 07:30 to 17:00 (including Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays). Ticket issuance and admission stop 30 minutes before closing time (at 16:30).
- Admission Tickets: Visitors must obtain valid tickets and present them at the security gate upon entry. Please retain your ticket stub throughout your visit for verification by staff if requested.
- Appropriate Dress Code: The museum houses sacred religious art. Visitors must dress respectfully and modestly; sleeveless shirts, tank tops, and short skirts or shorts above the knee are not permitted in galleries.
- Luggage Cloakroom: Large backpacks, suitcases, travel bags, and umbrellas must be deposited at the complimentary luggage cloakroom near the main gate. Visitors are responsible for personal valuables, wallets, and electronic devices.
- Prohibited Items: Bringing weapons, flammables, explosives, toxic chemicals, biohazards, or pets into the museum grounds is strictly prohibited (guide dogs assisting visually impaired guests are exempt).
- Strictly No Touching of Artifacts: Touching, stroking, leaning against, climbing, sitting upon, or placing any object on stone sculptures, pedestals, glass cases, or stanchion railings is strictly forbidden. Human perspiration accelerates the chemical weathering of ancient sandstone.
- Maintain Safe Distance: Do not cross protective barriers, cords, or gallery plinths. Entry into restricted curatorial zones, mechanical rooms, or active conservation areas is strictly off-limits.
- Gallery Etiquette: Please walk gently and speak softly. Running, loud shouting, or boisterous behavior is inappropriate. Switch mobile phones to silent or vibration mode in indoor galleries. Dispose of waste in provided bins.
- No Smoking Policy: Smoking, including traditional tobacco, e-cigarettes, and vaping devices, is strictly prohibited throughout all indoor galleries, courtyards, and gardens.
- Food & Beverages: Food, colored drinks, and chewing gum are prohibited inside gallery spaces (only drinking water in sealed bottles is allowed). Food consumption is permitted exclusively at the outdoor garden cafe.
- Photography & Filming Guidelines: Personal non-commercial photography is permitted; however, camera flash is strictly prohibited (flash bursts accelerate pigment and stone degradation). Tripods, monopods, selfie sticks, and external lighting rigs are forbidden. Commercial productions or drone (UAV) operations require prior written authorization from the Museum Directorate.
- Compliance & Legal Liabilities: Guests must follow all instructions from docents and security staff. Any person causing intentional or negligent damage to sculptures or facilities will face administrative penalties, police prosecution, and full financial restitution under Vietnamese heritage laws.
