Binh Dinh and Kon Tum Gallery
Binh Dinh Province is located approximately 300 km south of Da Nang City. Many scholars maintain that present-day Binh Dinh was once a major center of the Champa Kingdom, referred to in several epigraphic inscriptions as Vijaya.
A number of Cham towers still stand intact in Binh Dinh today, including the Canh Tien, Thu Thien, Duong Long, Binh Lam, and Hung Thanh complexes. In addition, Binh Dinh contains numerous Cham ruins; notably, the Thap Mam site was excavated in 1934 and 2011, yielding substantial large-scale sculptures of deities and mythical creatures.
Alongside the gallery dedicated exclusively to the Thap Mam Collection, artifacts from other sites across Binh Dinh Province are presented together in the Binh Dinh – Kon Tum Gallery. Most of the objects collected from Binh Dinh date from the 12th century CE onward. Meanwhile, the artifact originating from Kon Tum Province (BTC 167 – 3.16) represents the latest piece in the stone sculpture collection of the Cham Museum, dating to the 14th–15th centuries CE.
